Any person, from any walk of life, can end up in the clutches of the criminal justice system. The fact is, it happens, and if it does happen, the experience is often overwhelming.
A criminal conviction, even for a misdemeanor, can have significant, long-term consequences. No case is too small. Your case is important to you, therefore, it is important to me.
You deserve a lawyer you can trust, one with the knowledge and experience to guide you through the system, a lawyer in whom you can confide the good, the bad, and the ugly, one who can provide you with wise counsel about your options.
For any person accused of a crime, there is always a unique story of how things got to be the way they ended up. It is my job to earn your trust, to listen closely to what you have to say, to ask you the hard questions and, ultimately, to tell your personal story in a compelling way to those who need to hear it.
It always involves getting out in the field and talking to witnesses face-to-face. It sometimes involves hiring the right expert witness or investigator. It sometimes involves researching the legal issues that present themselves in any given case, writing persuasive motions and memoranda, and making the right legal argument to a judge. At the end of the day, it is always about preparation.
It is only by living and breathing every aspect of a client’s story that a lawyer can make a prosecutor, or a judge, or a jury understand what happened. Make no mistake, a trial is a gun fight. A lawyer must prepare for the expected, anticipate the unexpected, and take nothing for granted. Not every case is destined for trial. However, every case must be prepared as if it were going to trial, even if the ultimate goal is settlement. It is only by being thoroughly prepared for trial that a lawyer can earn the most favorable outcome for a client.
It’s an adversarial system. No one is there to do you any favors. Experience makes a difference. If you’d like to discuss your case, then please give me a call.
